Upcoming Special Events
We have had several inquiries, so, to set the rumor mill straight, here it is :
Since it's Institution in March of 2015, the North Cape Coral Elks 2874 Officers and Members have been working very hard to acquire a Lodge home. And, after searching long and hard for a building to lease, we were instructed by the Florida State Elks Association Trustees that we were to find land and build. So, that is what we did. The FSEA Trustees said they would fund us to get built and up and ...running. Of course, we would pay them back.
So, here we are , 3 years later. We have had many roadblocks put in our way, such as a sea wall and turning lane that we didn't know we needed. Those 2 things put us way over our original price of completion. Then came Irma, and Everything increased again.
We have had several meetings with the FSEA Trustees to see how we could get this project completed. The FSEA Trustees told us that we would need to raise a very large sum of money to finish the building. As they have no other funds available for us and could not loan us any more.
We were told that if we did not raise the needed money by the end of May, the locks would be changed and the building will be put up for sale.
The city was willing to forego a few things just to get us open. We tried selling bonds, and auctioned off all of our equipment to try and raise the money.
We fell quite short.we have looked at every possible resolution, to no end. The FSEA Trustees would not even consider getting us an occupancy permit so we could hold functions to continue raising money and do things one step at a time.
So, here we sit. With 300 members and no place to hold a meeting or even a cookout. The North Cape Coral Elks Board of Directors has had several meetings, and it was decided that with no foreseeable movement forward, all Officers would resign their positions, including myself, effective immediately, and that after discussing with the membership, we would surrender our Charter. Word got out before there was a chance to inform the members and it has been announced that we are finished.
Not one of our Officers wanted this to happen, but the sad truth is we have just ran out of options. I do believe that if we had gotten open, our Lodge would have blown the District away with Membership and charitable works.

Any current member may transfer to a different Lodge if that is what you would like to do. You MUST contact THAT Lodge to do so. If you just want to let your membership lapse, well that is fine too.
Thank you for joining us, thank you for your support and thank you to the members and Officers who worked their butts off!
